Let Me Ask Your Opinion…

Hi Friends!! As many of you know, I am reading and reading, but I am plowed under, so please bear with me. I will get to all the reviews. In the meantime, I realize that I haven’t been posting on a consistent basis, and for that I apologize. I have been pondering an idea for this blog, and I would like to throw it out here to you and, as the headline states, ask your opinion.

I know that many of you are not only readers, but also writers. So, I have been wondering about doing author interviews as well as the reviews. This not only provides more material for blogging purposes, but it gives the reader a little background about the author. So, reader and author alike, is this something that you would like to see on here?

A question to the writers: Would you be interested in being interviewed on this blog? If so, what questions would you like to answer for your readers? I am new at this, so any help in that area would be greatly appreciated!

I seriously want to hear from you all on your opinion on this as well as any other suggestions that you may have for what I can do to improve the blog. This is not for me, but for you, so I value your input. πŸ™‚

  1. I think your idea is great – I just did the same thing. I read and review all the time, but as I writer and fellow Indie Author I want to pay it forward. My new blog was born of that idea. I read/review a book and interview the author with a book review and any other info they’d like to add. So far I am only doing one review/interview a week because I’m the only reader! You can check out the questions I’m using right now by following the link to my blog. As an author I like being asked off the wall questions – they get some of the greatest answers – so when I made mine up I got pretty creative.
I would love to be read and reviewed on your site – will keep watching to find out submission details. Here’s my link – don’t hesitate to contact me if I can help any further – I’m a newbie at this too, though! OH, forgot to add, this is a different blog from my normal author blog – just thought it might be easier that way. Linda

    • I agree with Linda. As an author, I like fun and wild questions. I love being interviewed, and would gladly do an interview for your site. I would recommend that you focus on 1-3 genres on your site. It will help you draw in readers. πŸ™‚ Good luck, and thanks for all you do!

      • Thank you, Beth. That sounds like a great idea about the genre limitations. Otherwise, I am never going to get everything done. I have lots of books in my TBR queue right now. Besides, I am only getting response from writers and not readers, and I really want to hear from readers too. I appreciate the interview ideas as well. You never know, you might get some interview questions from me one of these days! πŸ™‚

  2. Sounds great to me too. I’ve had a couple of interviews and the questions I have thought most about have been the unexpected ones. I guess we’ve all filled in the standard stuff on lots of web sites, so less usual questions seem more stimulating. When I’ve read other interviews, it is precisely the ‘non-standard’ ones that seem to me to give most insight into the author.

    • Thank you for responding, Richard! I am going to do some interviews and try to get more reviews and beef up the blog a bit. I hope you will continue to read and give your comments. Thanks again! πŸ™‚

  3. I’ve just recently added regular interviews to my blog as well. I’m asking 10 stock questions that will hopefully engage both readers and writers. It’s important to include photos as well. Some intereviewers will ask very specific questions, but that would be very time-consuming. Plus, adding in a giveaway of a book or two might also be worth doing. Good luck!

    • Thanks for writing, Jeri! I really appreciate it and your input as well. I have been having a hard time with sizing pictures on here and that is why I don’t have any. I am going to try again with my next review which will be very soon, within the next few days. I am interested in the book giveaway contest. How do I do that?

      • Tried commenting twice, but it didn’t seem to go through 😦 I ask authors how many books they are willing to give away. I’ve found one or two works best and then I randomly draw names from those who have left comments. Also, SmushIt is a WordPress plugin that shinks pics of 1MB or less. For larger pics, I use Microsoft Office to compress photos.

    • Thank you for writing, Elizabeth! I appreciate your offer of a review copy of your book. Unfortunately, I have been so inundated with requests, that as of November 1st I have had to limit submissions to only mystery/suspense and historical fiction. I may have to suspend all submissions soon. I have more than enough to keep me busy for at least a year, maybe two! I am so sorry, I hate to say no to anyone. I wish I had more time. Check on Goodreads and on World Literary Cafe or CulturalBook. They have a number of writers and other readers that review also. On Goodreads, there is a group called Register Here and they are other authors and they have a round robin review of one another’s books. It is posted on Goodreads, Amazon.com and Amazon.uk as well. Much luck!
